Midnight: Sleep

From sleep we come and to sleep we return
Someday I'll evade the tendrils of dream.
I'll walk outside to see the sky
That wasn't what it seemed.

When all is peaceful, all is quiet
The sky is bottomless blue
Mysterious wind, the beautiful night
And the stars are winking at you.

So we hide from the sky in our sleep,
Should we be drawn in and lost
Such thoughts crossed my mind as I struggled –
Fighting something that couldn't be fought.

Midnight: Death

When I resign myself with a heavy sigh
When my time is up, and I say goodbye

When the stars come out and the moon shines bright
I'll see at last my everlasting midnight

Midnight: Dreaming

To dream is for all to be right
Your world to melt, your heart resting too
To dream is for subconscious to wake
To show you things you never knew
A dream is a play with no plot, no script
Your show, though it's but a lie
A dream is a hazy reality
Real till you wake with a sigh
To wake in a dream is a surge of glory
You hold the power, you see the light
To wake in a dream is to defy everything
To fling away the rules, and take flight!
To wake from a dream is bitter disappointment
It wasn't real, and soon you'll forget
The dream fades with barely a trace
In its wake is melancholy regret.

Alone

Author's note: this poem was written by me, Twist, a thirteen year old, when I attended the camp SEEQ. It is copyrighted to me. Absolutely no infringement, copying, or using my words in ANY way. No loopholes. Anyone who violates this will be given a fine to pay and/or severely punished.

I walk alone
in a crowd of friends
with not an ally.

They are paired up
talking and laughing
No one looks at me.

What expression do I wear on my face?
What seems to keep them away
like reversed polarities?

I walk alone
in a crowd of strangers
who do not know me.
