Pretties

Everyone, I think, at one point, fantasizes about a life where there is every luxury imaginable, everything perfect, fun, and pretty. Well, that's how Pretties - by Scott Westerfeld - starts out. Being the sequel to Uglies, it naturally ropes you in: Tally Youngblood is now a pretty (otherwise known, later, as a bubblehead) - beautiful, popular and perfect. The opening line is, "Getting dressed was always the hardest part of an afternoon." This immediately suggests that Tally is allowed to sleep for as long as she wants, and that she has nothing possibly bigger to worry about than a slight wardrobe problem. What's not to like?

So, you're following along the pattern of Scott Westerfeld's books: one net after another, la-di-da . . . when suddenly - ka-zam!! If you thought pretty life was too good to be true . . . surprise, surprise! IT IS! It was no surprise to me, because I'd read the prequel, so when I found out, I breathed a sigh of relief because it had finally happened - Tally found out what was wrong with pretty life - but just as I was about to put the book down, the Specials made a re-entrance! *gasp*

You won't be able to wait to find out what happens next! This book answers all your questions about the previous book, and yet even more questions arise. Scott Westerfeld tells a futuristic story that probably no one has ever considered possible before.

Once again, the book ends on a cliffhanger. And this time, you will be completely, irresistibly lost in Tally's world . . . three hundred years from now.
